DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Tax & Compliance Manage a portfolio of clients from end to end, overseeing their financial affairs, ensuring tax compliance, and maintaining high-quality, timely deliverables. Prepare and complete year-end financial statements and tax returns for individuals, businesses, and entities in accordance with Australian tax laws. Manage BAS and IAS lodgments, payroll tax, FBT, Division 7A compliance, and liaise with the ATO to address any issues. Conduct tax research, provide strategic tax planning, and advise on business structuring to optimize client outcomes. Assist with onboarding new clients by facilitating a smooth transition and ensuring all documentation is complete. Assist in internal system and process improvements to enhance efficiency within the tax team. Advisory & Reporting Support the delivery of virtual CFO services, including budgeting, cash flow forecasting, KPI tracking, and preparation of management reports as required by clients. Prepare quarterly and monthly reporting packs that compare actuals against budgets and benchmarks, offering insights into variances and performance trends. Utilize reporting tools such as Fathom, Excel, or similar platforms to build and maintain financial dashboards and scenario models. Assist in client meetings by providing data-driven insights to support strategic decision-making. Assist in the development and improvement of internal reporting frameworks and workflows as the firm's advisory services expand. QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor&aposs degree in accounting or a related field. Extensive 4-5 years of hands-on experience in Australian tax within an accounting firm, specializing in Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs). Comprehensive understanding of Australian tax regulations and guidelines, with tax planning and client-facing experience considered a strong advantage. Experience or interest in management reporting, including budgeting, forecasting, and KPI tracking; familiarity with Fathom or similar tools is an advantage. Proficiency in Xero accounting software is required; a background in Karbon and Fathom is a plus. Hands-on experience in bookkeeping and/or SMSF is a strong advantage. Exceptional attention to detail, ensuring accuracy across compliance, reporting, and client deliverables. Ability to assist with process and system improvements, especially as the firm scales its operations and explores automation or workflow enhancements. Strong communication skills with the ability to clearly explain tax and financial concepts to clients and collaborate effectively within a remote team. Self-motivated, dependable, and able to manage deliverables across a client portfolio with minimal supervision.
