- Ensure compliance with all relevant local, state, and federal environmental, health, and safety regulations.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant laws, codes, and standards affecting the workplace.
- Prepare and submit reports for regulatory agencies, ensuring timely compliance with required reporting schedules.
- Risk Assessment & Safety Audits:
- Conduct regular safety audits and inspections of the workplace, identifying hazards and recommending corrective actions.
- Assess risks associated with equipment, machinery, processes, or hazardous materials, and implement control measures.
- Develop and maintain safety protocols and emergency response plans.
- Training & Awareness:
- Plan, organize, and conduct safety and environmental training programs for all employees.
- Raise awareness about safety policies and procedures through regular communications and events.
- Ensure employees are familiar with personal protective equipment (PPE) and safety equipment.
- Incident Management:
- Investigate accidents, injuries, and near-misses, determining the root cause and recommending corrective actions.
- Maintain records of all incidents and near-misses, ensuring proper documentation and compliance with reporting protocols.
- Coordinate emergency drills and responses, ensuring preparedness in the event of an accident.
- Environmental Management:
- Oversee waste disposal, water, and air quality monitoring to ensure environmental sustainability.
- Manage hazardous materials and waste, ensuring compliance with environmental regulations.
- Implement strategies to reduce environmental impact, including energy efficiency and sustainable practices.
- Documentation & Reporting:
- Maintain detailed records of all safety inspections, incidents, training, and compliance activities.
- Prepare and deliver regular EHS reports to management, highlighting key safety and environmental performance metrics.
- Collaboration & Advisory:
- Collaborate with departments to ensure safety measures are integrated into work processes.
- Advise management on EHS strategies, policies, and best practices to minimize risks and improve safety culture.
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health & Safety, Engineering, or related field.
- Proven experience (typically 2-5 years) in a similar EHS role within the industry (e.g., manufacturing, construction, or energy).
- In-depth knowledge of OSHA standards, local environmental laws, and best practices in health and safety management.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess and mitigate risks effectively.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to deliver training and write reports.
- Proficiency in using EHS management software, MS Office Suite, and related tools.
