Power Plant Manager (Coal, C-Level)

- Lead daily operations and overall management of the coal-fired power plant to ensure uninterrupted power generation and optimal efficiency.
- Oversee plant maintenance, outage planning, and troubleshooting to maintain plant reliability and reduce downtime.
- Supervise and mentor plant engineering, operations, and maintenance teams to ensure safety, quality, and productivity goals are met.
- Manage the lifecycle of plant improvement initiatives, from design and procurement to implementation and evaluation.
- Oversee budget planning, scheduling, and execution of maintenance and technical upgrade projects.
- Drive implementation of plant optimization strategies to enhance fuel efficiency, reduce emissions, and extend asset life.
- Ensure full compliance with national and local environmental, energy, and safety regulations.
- Lead internal audits, risk assessments, and emergency response planning in alignment with industry standards.
- Oversee documentation and reporting for regulatory submissions and inspections.
- Liaise with regulatory bodies, government agencies, contractors, and equipment vendors.
- Serve as the point person for corporate leadership, presenting plant performance metrics, project updates, and risk mitigation plans.
- 20+ years of experience in power generation, with at least 15 years in a senior leadership role managing coal-fired or thermal power plants.
- Proven expertise in plant operations, engineering, project management, and regulatory compliance.
- Strong leadership in managing multidisciplinary teams and external partners.
- In-depth understanding of power plant systems, emissions controls, and energy efficiency optimization.
- Excellent decision-making, communication, and crisis management skills.
- Educational Background
- Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Energy Systems, or a related discipline (Licensed Engineer required).
- Masters Degree (e.g., MBA, MS in Energy Engineering) preferred.
- Certifications such as PMP or Certified Energy Manager (CEM) are a plus.
