This role is ideal for a detail-driven professional who can take ownership of discovery drafting, responses, and deadline tracking with accuracy and consistency. You will support attorneys and paralegals by managing discovery workflows, maintaining compliance with California Civil Procedure, and ensuring cases are always prepared for the next stage.Core Responsibilities
- Draft and serve discovery requests including Form Interrogatories, Special Interrogatories, Requests for Production (RFPs), and Requests for Admission (RFAs)
- Draft discovery responses, coordinate client verifications, and ensure timely return of signed documents
- Track and calendar all discovery deadlines to prevent compliance risks
- Maintain organized discovery logs, trial binders, and case documentation
- Follow up with clients on outstanding records and verifications in a timely manner
- Assist with subpoenas, HIPAA authorizations, and medical records retrieval
- Ensure proof of service compliance for all discovery matters
- Support trial preparation with exhibits, discovery summaries, and documentation checks
- 1–2 years’ hands-on experience in California personal injury litigation discovery
- Strong working knowledge of California Civil Procedure discovery rules
- Proven ability to manage discovery calendars and deadlines without oversight
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word (advanced formatting), Adobe Acrobat (Bates stamping, redaction), and case management tools (Filevine, SmartAdvocate, or Needles)
- Exceptional organization skills with a track record of accuracy and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment and meet deadlines consistently
- Paralegal certificate or equivalent legal coursework
- Prior experience supporting California PI firms in discovery or litigation support
- Exposure to subpoenas, medical records requests, and HIPAA-compliant data handling
- Trial preparation experience, including exhibit management and binder creation
