DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: As a U.S. Tax Preparer, you'll support the firm&aposs tax work while applying your expertise and critical thinking to ensure returns are accurate, compliant, and insightful. Your role will evolve with the seasons, and if you're open, there are opportunities to take on client projects in the off-season. Prepare accurate and timely U.S. tax returns (e.g. 1040, 1120S, 1065, and 990 for nonprofits) Review client financials and identify errors, omissions, or red flags Collaborate with the team to understand client nuances and expectations Communicate via email and meetings to ask questions and clarify info Assist in process documentation and suggest improvements where helpful Participate in team check-ins during flexible overlap hours QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelors degree in Accountancy or equivalent 2-5 years of hands-on experience preparing U.S. tax returns Well Versed in US Tax Law: Strong knowledge of tax codes and how they pertain when preparing forms for individuals, small businesses, and nonprofits (1040, 1120S, 1065, 990) Knowledge of tax credits, deductions, and compliance rules in relation to the US Taxation System (Hawaii State Taxation knowledge would be a plus) Familiarity with tax software and cloud-based tools (e.g. ProConnect, QBO, ShareFile, Karbon, etc.) Ability to handle complex returns (investments, rental properties, small businesses, multi-state filings.) Critical thinking skills : you notice inconsistencies, ask questions, and catch what others miss Analytical skills: Ability to interpret financial records and identify tax-saving opportunities.
