The Chief Accountant is responsible to oversee the bank's accounting operations and ensure compliance with financial regulations and internal policies. The candidate will be responsible for managing the accounting team, maintaining accurate financial records, preparing reports, and supporting strategic financial planning within the banking environment. Duties and Responsibilities: Lead and manage all accounting functions including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, and financial reporting. Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements (e.g., IFRS, local GAAP, central bank guidelines, tax laws). Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports for management, auditors, and regulators. Monitor and enforce internal controls to ensure integrity of financial data. Coordinate audits and liaise with internal and external auditors. Collaborate with other departments to support budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis. Manage tax planning and ensure timely filing of tax returns and compliance with all applicable laws. Stay updated on changes in financial regulations and best practices in the banking industry. Supervise, mentor, and develop the accounting team. Recommend improvements to financial systems and processes to enhance efficiency and accuracy. Qualifications: Bachelor&aposs degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. Professional certification such as CPA, ACCA, or CA required. Minimum 7-10 years of accounting experience in the banking or financial services sector. Proven leadership experience in a senior accounting role. Strong understanding of banking operations and regulatory frameworks. Knowledgeable in BSP reporting. In-depth knowledge of IFRS and banking regulatory standards. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities. Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel).
