Their mission is to address the challenges of achieving a sustainable future by innovating to reduce the cost, environmental impact, and complexity of renewable energy projects.Role OverviewWe are seeking a skilled and motivated Technical Director to join our client’s dynamic team. This role involves leading the technical strategy and execution of early-stage renewable energy projects, ensuring projects are technically robust, commercially viable, and compliant with regulatory standards from site identification through to handover to construction teams.Responsibilities:
- Lead site identification, screening, and feasibility assessments using industry-standard tools.
- Conduct preliminary yield assessments and energy production estimates.
- Oversee technical due diligence, including land, permitting, grid access, and environmental risk assessments.
- Coordinate technical studies such as wind measurements, solar irradiance analysis, and geotechnical surveys.
- Define project design, technology selection, layout optimization, and storage integration.
- Evaluate new technologies and suppliers for technical and commercial viability.
- Develop preliminary grid connection studies and define electrical infrastructure requirements.
- Provide technical inputs for permitting and regulatory submissions, including Environmental and Social Impact Assessments (ESIAs).
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including development, legal, land, environmental teams, consultants, contractors, and suppliers.
- Lead CAPEX estimation and provide technical inputs for financial models, validating LCOE assumptions and flagging risks.
- Ensure seamless handover to construction teams with complete site documentation and assumptions.
- 10-15+ years of relevant experience in renewable energy development (onshore wind, utility-scale solar, and/or storage systems).
- Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Renewable Energy Engineering.
- Extensive experience in plant layout and design optimization based on site conditions, environmental constraints, and logistics.
- Proven track record in leading renewable energy projects to Financial Close and/or COD.
- Strong commercial and procurement acumen with experience shaping competitive, compliant bid strategies.
- Effective leadership skills and experience managing multi-disciplinary teams.
- Strong stakeholder management skills with an established network of industry professionals, consultants, contractors, and suppliers.
- Excellent English communication, presentation, and documentation skills.
- Proactive, team-oriented, and able to manage multiple workstreams simultaneously.
- Highly responsible, motivated, and thrives in a fast-paced, innovative environment.
