Copenhagen Infrastructure Service Company (CISC) - a company working exclusively for the global fund management company Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP), is currently looking for a Technical Director (Renewable Energy) to join the team in Metro Manila, Philippines. The role The Technical Director will lead the technical strategy and execution of early-stage renewable energy projects (solar, wind, and hybrid systems). This role is pivotal in ensuring technical robustness, regulatory compliance, and commercial viability from site identification or acquisition through to handover to construction management teams. Responsibilities Will Further Consist Of Site Identification & Feasibility Assessment Evaluate potential project sites using tools like WindPro and PVsyst. Lead site screening based on topography, grid access, environmental constraints, and land use. Conduct preliminary yield assessments and energy production estimates. Technical Due Diligence Oversee early-stage due diligence for land, permitting, grid access, and environmental risks. Coordinate technical studies (e.g., wind measurements, solar irradiance, geotechnical surveys). Advise stakeholders on technical risks and mitigation strategies. Grid Connection & Infrastructure Planning Assess grid connection options and liaise with transmission/distribution companies. Develop preliminary grid connection studies and cost estimates. Define electrical infrastructure requirements (substations, cabling, SCADA systems). Project Design & Technology Strategy Define technical concepts including layout, technology selection, and storage integration. Evaluate new technologies and suppliers for technical and commercial viability. Optimize plant design for performance, cost, and compliance. Permitting & Regulatory Engagement Provide technical inputs for permitting and regulatory submissions. Support Environmental and Social Impact Assessments (ESIAs). Engage with regulatory bodies on interconnection and compliance matters. Stakeholder Coordination Collaborate with development, legal, land, and environmental teams. Represent the technical function in JV partnerships, investor meetings, and public hearings. Coordinate with OEMs, consultants, and engineering firms. CAPEX Estimation & Business Case Support Lead capital cost estimation and provide technical inputs for financial models. Validate LCOE assumptions and flag technical risks impacting commercial viability. Handover to Construction Management Ensure seamless technical handover to EPC/construction teams. Transfer all site-specific documentation and assumptions to downstream teams. Main Stakeholders CIP Investment & Investment Management Teams Business Development Director Project team members External project stakeholders, including consultants, contractors, suppliers, or service providers You 10-15+ years of relevant experience in renewable energy (onshore wind, utility-scale solar, and/or storage systems). Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Renewable Energy Engineering. We look for the following in a candidate Extensive experience: extensive experience in renewable energy development, including optimizing plant layout and design solutions based on site conditions, environmental constraints, and logistics. Proven track record: must have successfully led the development of renewable energy projects from technical/engineering/procurement perspective with the projects achieving Financial Close and/or COD. Strong commercial and procurement acumen, with ability to shape competitive, compliant bid strategies. Strong leadership: Conduct effective project leadership & team management Stakeholder management: can coordinate with partners and maintain key stakeholder relationships Good network: must have an established network of industry professionals, consultants, contractors, and suppliers for various stages and scope of works of development activities. Great communication skills: Fluent in English with strong communication and presentation skills, including having ability to document project information and risks in a concise manner. Team-oriented: ability to take initiative and work proactively and collaboratively within a lean team and manage different workstreams simultaneously.
