SummaryOur client, a renowned FinTech sector is currently in need of Database Administrator. As a Database Administrator, you will play a pivotal role in managing and optimizing our database infrastructure. Your expertise will be crucial in ensuring the availability, reliability, and security of our databases while maximizing their performance to meet the demands of our applications and users. Additionally, you will be responsible for providing technical leadership, mentoring junior team members, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive data-related initiatives.Key Responsibilities:
  • Database Management: Oversee the installation, configuration, and maintenance of various database systems, including but not limited to, relational databases (e.g., MySQL Server, PostGreSQL) and NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB).
  • Performance Optimization: Analyze database performance metrics and fine-tune database configurations to achieve optimal performance, ensuring that applications and queries run efficiently and meet service level agreements (SLAs).
  • Security and Compliance: Implement robust security measures to safeguard sensitive data, monitor access controls, and ensure compliance with data protection regulations and industry standards.
  • Backup and Recovery: Develop and maintain a comprehensive backup and disaster recovery strategy to ensure data integrity and quick restoration in case of system failures or data corruption.
  • Troubleshooting and Issue Resolution: Investigate and resolve complex database-related issues, working closely with other teams such as software developers, network administrators, and system administrators.
  • High Availability and Scalability: Design and implement solutions that provide high availability and scalability for critical databases, ensuring seamless access and responsiveness during peak loads.
  • Database Monitoring and Maintenance: Establish proactive monitoring and maintenance procedures to identify potential problems and address them before they become critical issues.
  • Database Upgrades and Migrations: Plan and execute database upgrades and migrations to newer versions or different platforms while minimizing downtime and ensuring data integrity.
  • Performance Tuning: Identify and optimize slow-running queries and database bottlenecks to enhance system performance and responsiveness.
  • Documentation and Knowledge Sharing: Maintain comprehensive documentation of database systems, configurations, and procedures. Share knowledge and best practices with team members to foster continuous learning and growth.
  • Mentoring and Team Collaboration: Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior database administrators, fostering a collaborative and supportive team environment.
  • Stay Current with Emerging Technologies: Keep abreast of industry trends, advancements, and emerging technologies related to database administration and recommend appropriate solutions to enhance the company's technical infrastructure.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Proven experience of at least 3 years as a Database Administrator, with a significant focus on managing enterprise-level databases.
  • Solid experience writing and managing stored procedures and views (not just reviewing!)
  • Strong performance tuning skills to keep databases running smoothly
  • In-depth knowledge of SQL, including different types of joins and query structuring
  • Strong expertise in database management systems and proficiency in database design and optimization.
  • In-depth knowledge of database security, backup and recovery, and disaster recovery strategies.
  • Experience with database performance tuning, query optimization, and capacity planning.
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex database-related issues efficiently.
  • Prior experience with cloud-based database services (e.g., AWS RDS) is highly desirable.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills with a collaborative mindset..
