Job Responsibilities Usually the navigating officer Assists the Chief Officer with cargo work Responsible for the upkeep and maintenance of navigation and electronic Aids to navigation in the bridge Keeps the middle and afternoon watch Assists in docking/undocking, mooring/unmooring, and anchoring as directed by the Master Job Qualifications Physically/Medically fit, including good eyesight and hearing Graduate of B.S. in Marine Transportation At least one (1) year of experience in seagoing service as Third Mate onboard a seagoing ship of 500 GT or more Passed the Second Mate licensure examination
