Purchasing Assistant

• Generate and create Purchase Orders for all approved Requisitions.
• Responsible for monitoring vessel schedules, coordinates forwarding matters and ensures timely and economical supply of spare parts and stores;
• Evaluate and improve supplier selection taking into account total landed cost mindset: deliver the right goods at the fastest and most economical way to ensure vessel daily running costs at minimum level without jeopardizing the operation
• Evaluate and decide on mode of transportation taking into account Total Landed Cost: deliver the right goods at the fastest and most economical way to help maintain vessel daily running costs at minimum level and rig up-time to the maximum.
• Shall ensure timely processing of invoices and updating of all PO status in the procurement system for submission to the vessel manager;
• Identify and evaluate potential suppliers to ensure the availability of items and ensure smooth operation onboard the vessel.

• Purchaser shall comply with the company Purchasing Policy & Guidelines and shall order though contracted or preferred suppliers unless there are exceptional circumstances;
• Manage the buying process for a given set of goods in line with specified cost, quality and delivery targets
• Develop and maintain a strong foundation of function skills and knowledge of relevant purchasing and sourcing concepts.
• Ensure continuous supply of required goods and materials and communicate any supply problems which may pose a risk or impact on business operations.
