We are seeking a “Senior Site Inspector – Dredging and Reclamation Works” to become part of our site-based team at the Bacoor Reclamation and Development Project in between the Cavitex highway and Bacoor City (Philippines), overseeing the construction of a landmark reclamation project. Read on!What you do as a Senior Site Inspector – Dredging and Reclamation WorksThe senior site inspector will be reporting to the engineer’s representative at site. The senior site inspector will be part of and managing 2 other junior inspectors to cover 24/7 the dredging and reclamation works by the trailing suction hopper dredger (vessel) undertaking the dredging works at the borrow area and transporting the sand to the reclamation site. For a period of about 6 months, the inspector is expected to sail on the vessel to monitor ad supervise the works. Before and after this, he will be working at the reclamation site and his general tasks and responsibilities will include amongst others:
  • supports in the review of the Contractor's submissions including plans, design reports, drawings, Materials Approval Submittal (MAS), Method Statements (MS), Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), Risk Assessments (RA), technical proposals, etc., ensuring that they comply with the contract conditions, applicable laws and regulations, the specifications, the engineer’s representative’s (ER’s) instructions and best practices
  • inspect and monitor the quantity and quality of the sand dredged and the safety of the dredging and reclamation works undertaken by the trailing suction hopper dredger
  • ensure compliance with project specifications, codes, standards, and regulations, such as ACI, ASTM, and OSHA
  • review and verify the accuracy of works according to drawings, plans, and reports
  • coordinate and communicate with the contractors, engineers, and clients, to resolve any issues or discrepancies
  • identify and report any defects, damages, or deviations from the project requirements
  • recommend and implement corrective actions and preventive measures
  • document and maintain records of inspection activities and results, using forms, checklists, photos, and software
  • prepare and submit daily, weekly, and monthly inspection reports, highlighting the progress, problems, and solutions of the concrete construction works
  • perform tests and measurements on dredged materials
  • provide technical guidance and support to junior staff and trainees, on the methods and procedures of inspection

You will become part of the BRDP Construction Management and Supervision team led by an internationally experienced engineer’s representative supported by 14 inspectors, surveyors, and engineers. For this position, you need to have the following competencies/skills:
  • minimum bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or any other related course
  • 10 to 20 years' industry experience
  • experience in dredging and reclamation works
  • preferably experience working within an engineering consultancy firm
  • quality and safety consciousness
  • strong in record keeping
  • analytical thinker and strong problem solver
  • excellent knowledge of the English language (written and verbal)
  • strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • team player, versatile, and energetic
  • adept at working in a digital way
  • proficient in Microsoft suite of applications, HSE reporting, and documentation
