Summary: This position is meant to service custom reporting requests (internal and external) that require direct interaction with database systems, especially via SQL programming. It is not primarily meant for database development, but does require creative application of existing systems, interaction with clients and external partners, and training and assistance of fellow team members. Responsibilities: Guide conversations with non-technical users, including clients, to understand business needs. Requires very strong English communication. (Review reporting requests, which often lack technical detail, and guide conversations with internal partners and clients to translate business needs into technical specifications.) Project-manage solutions for custom reporting needs. (Perform research in reporting systems and leverage software and coding tools, especially SQL programming, to provide needed reporting and tools. Guide and coordinate efforts by multiple team members on large, multifaceted projects.) Develop general-use reporting solutions and train the team in their use. (Build reports and coding approaches that can be used across a variety of situations, and use documentation, training sessions, and calls to help the team use them.) Lead team-wide training, quality review, and maintenance tasks. (Contribute to the smooth function of the team as a whole by sharing knowledge in team chat, and assisting with debugging and upkeep of reports. Provide one-on-one assistance to other team members, especially GBSC resources, and assist management in setting and upholding quality standards.) Address supporting duties, e.g. email and ticket management, and team meetings. (Participate in team and departmental protocols, communication, and knowledge-sharing, to ensure the smooth function of the team as a whole.) QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's Degree (Four-year college course) - or equivalent work experience. What is most important is demonstrated aptitude for programming work. A bachelor's degree in a math, science, or business-related field is ideal, but strong performance in other academic disciplines, or related certifications or work experience (especially in SQL programming), may all demonstrate needed aptitude Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially MS Excel). Proficiency in line-by-line programming, including strong proficiency in SQL. (Can include a mix of work experience, formal education, and certifications, but strong SQL ability is a must.) Strong logical capability. (Logical reasoning skills will assist candidates with on-the-job learning, and are more important than SQL experience or certifications.) Clear communication in both verbal and written form. (Candidates will need to collaborate with non-technical partners-typically in American English-in order to identify effective solutions to business needs. Communication skills are expected to be strong enough to guide these conversations, not merely to participate in them.) Ability to explain technical subjects and train fellow team members. Ability to follow instructions carefully. Ability to follow team protocols and manage multiple projects at once. At least 5 years in a professional environment (preferred). At least 3 years in roles requiring SQL programming (preferred). Any experience with Broadspire or an industry peer a plus. Day-to-day: Consultative Analytics personnel. Collaborate and communicate with fellow team members to identify solutions to requests, execute on them, and support team health. Guide the development of reporting solutions, and assist other team members with their tasks. Internal interactions: Broadspire requesters. Respond to requests submitted by partners in Client Services, Medical Management, Claim Operations, Information Technology, and other departments. Project-manage the team's response, and ensure clear communication (verbal and written) with non-technical partners. External interactions: Client requesters. Nature of interaction similar to internal interactions. Candidate should bring in management for support as needed, but should be capable of handling client interactions with a degree of independence.
