We are seeking an experienced Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC) medical coder to handle coding for a variety of outpatient surgical procedures across multiple specialties. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of CPT, ICD-10-CM, and HCPCS coding specific to ASC environments, including appropriate modifier usage, documentation review, and adherence to payor-specific coding guidelines. Key Responsibilities: Review operative reports, encounter notes, and surgical documentation to accurately assign CPT, ICD-10-CM, and HCPCS codes. Apply ASC-specific coding rules, guidelines, and payor policies. Verify medical necessity and correct modifier usage based on coding regulations. Ensure compliance with CMS and private payor policies. Communicate with billing and clinical teams as needed to resolve coding or documentation issues. Assist with coding audits and internal quality assurance reviews. Qualifications: Certified Professional Coder (CPC), Certified Outpatient Coder (COC), or equivalent credential required. Minimum 3 years of recent ASC coding experience. Strong knowledge of outpatient surgical coding guidelines. Experience with orthopedic, GI, pain management, ophthalmology, and/or podiatry coding preferred. Familiarity with Medicare ASC payment rules and NCCI edits. Attention to detail and ability to work independently.
