Role Accountabilities We are seeking for a Project Cost Consultant/Senior Quantity Surveyor to work on large-scale transport infrastructure projects. Our ideal candidate will be responsible for managing the preparation of detailed estimates for heavy civil, road, rail, utilities, and aviation projects. Preferably the right candidate will have experience in providing probabilistic risk assessments to provide contingencies to all projects, and will support our wider cost management team in the delivery of cost planning and commercial-based services. We have recently secured several major projects and we are looking to expand our cost management team, and this is a great opportunity for an individual to make a real mark and enhance our service delivery. The purpose of this role is to provide effective delivery of assigned services and assist the wider team in the provision of estimating and data analytics to ensure that all client expectations and requirements are met within agreed timelines and budgets. In an operational sense you will be responsible for the following: As our projects are delivered from Feasability, Concept, and Detailed Design, the role requires lateral thinking, whereby the Senior Estimator/Estimator is expected to be able to analyze the information provided and determine the missing scope and provide cost effectiveness and the associated assumptions to deliver the complete proposal. The preparation of first principles cost estimates. The preparation of cost plans. The preparation of bills of quantities and the management of teams to deliver bills of quantities. Assessment of variations, take-offs, and cost proposals. Leading technical reviews as may be required with designers and for estimates. Leading, participating and contributing to risk and value engineering workshops. Working closely with and communicating with the internal and external teams to address issues or concerns as these arise Helping the Cost and Commercial Management team to establish and work within agreed parameters and procedures Qualifications & Experience: Bachelor's degree. Experience in the construction industry is preferred for this role and demonstration of having delivered similar roles. Previous experience with Expert Estimation preferred, and/or CostX or other digital takeoff tool is desirable. Proficient use of Microsoft Excel. Knowledge of the Infrastructure sector. Adept in managing and delivering against challenging and competing timescales. Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well within a team to an aligned set of objectives Experience: Minimum 5 years post graduate experience in estimating for the Heavy Civil and/or Rail industry, (including pipelines and utilities works) relevant tertiary qualification OR minimum 10 years of similar experience in absence of a formal qualification.
