
Intermediate Accountant

- Prepare moderately complex regulatory reports in compliance with APRA, AFSL, PCA, FBT, PTR, and other standards.
- Ensure accuracy and completeness of financial data via reconciliation and variance analysis.
- Maintain and organize regulatory documentation (checklists, audit support, disclosures).
- Collaborate with internal finance teams, external auditors, and regulators to resolve reporting issues.
- Lead quality control and implement compliance measures and controls.
- Develop and update desktop procedures for reporting processes.
- Identify, resolve, and escalate reporting issues as required.
- Recommend and implement process, system, and reporting improvements with a focus on innovation.
- Build and maintain strong internal and external relationships.
- Collaborate with the Sydney finance team for accurate and efficient reporting.
- Lead or participate in team projects and initiatives.
- Stay updated on industry trends and regulatory changes.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or equivalent certification preferred.
- 3-5 years experience in Finance and Regulatory Reporting, preferably in the insurance industry, BPO/shared services, or with an audit background.
- Minimum of 2 years in regulatory report preparation and variance analysis; strong knowledge of APRA, IFRS, AFSL, Payment Times Reporting, FBT.
- Proven experience in process improvement, project management, and collaboration with external auditors.
- Skilled in ERP systems (Workday preferred) and an Intermediate to advanced level of MS Excel.
- Strong technical accounting capabilities with hands-on experience in financial statement preparation and regulatory compliance.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills; high attention to detail, strong quality control, and effective documentation management.
