- Develop interior design concepts and progress them through to detailed design stages, with a strong focus on execution and technical delivery rather than conceptual design.
- Produce high-quality, production-ready technical drawing packages including plans, elevations, joinery details, and specifications.
- Prepare and manage full FF&E schedules, specifications, and sourcing documentation.
- Create 3D models and visualisations to clearly communicate design intent to clients and stakeholders.
- Ensure all designs are practical, compliant, and aligned with project budgets and timelines.
- Lead and attend client meetings, confidently presenting design concepts and technical solutions.
- Act as a key point of contact for clients, consultants, subcontractors, and suppliers, including UK-based stakeholders.
- Coordinate across multidisciplinary teams to ensure design integrity is maintained throughout delivery.
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring deadlines, deliverables, and quality standards are met.
- Provide clear communication and updates to internal and external stakeholders.
- Work independently in a remote environment while maintaining high productivity and output.
- Attend site visits to review progress and ensure alignment with design and technical documentation.
- Review installations and resolve on-site technical or design issues.
- Work closely with contractors to ensure accurate execution of drawings and specifications.
- Support projects through to completion, snagging, and final handover.
- Ensure designs comply with relevant UK regulations, standards, and best practices, including:
- BS 8300 (Inclusive and accessible design)
- BS 9999 (Fire safety in buildings)
- BS 7671 (IET Wiring Regulations - awareness level)
- BS 476 / EN 13501 (Fire ratings of materials)
- Incorporate CDM Regulations (2015) into the design process, including designer duties and risk identification and mitigation.
- Apply strong knowledge of fire safety (means of escape, compartmentation, fire-rated materials, alarm systems) and accessibility (inclusive design, circulation, accessible WCs, step-free access).
- Other role-specific duties as they arise.
- Minimum of 5+ years experience as an Interior-focused Technical Designer.
- Bachelor's degree in Interior Design, Interior Architecture, Architecture, or a related discipline.
- Proven experience as a Technical Interior Designer delivering real-world projects from concept through to completion, with a strong focus on technical execution.
- Strong interior design portfolio demonstrating technical detailing and buildable, production-ready work (critical requirement).
- Demonstrated ability to produce detailed technical drawings and documentation for construction.
- Strong background in workplace / commercial office design environments.
- Experience coordinating with contractors, consultants, and suppliers.
- Experience working on UK-based projects and familiarity with relevant regulations and compliance standards is preferred.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD (essential), SketchUp, and Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop).
- Ability to produce coordinated drawing sets, specifications, schedules, and technical outputs efficiently.
- Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and detailing.
- Demonstrated high productivity and ability to manage multiple projects and competing deadlines.
- Ability to work independently in a remote or hybrid environment with minimal supervision.
- Confident client-facing communication and presentation skills, with the ability to lead meetings and manage stakeholder expectations.
- Strong project coordination, time management, and problem-solving skills.
- Highly organised, detail-oriented, and proactive with a strong sense of ownership and accountability.
- Collaborative and team-oriented, while also capable of working autonomously.
- Commercial awareness with the ability to balance design intent and buildability.
- Comfortable working with overseas clients; UK experience preferred but not essential.
- Exposure to AI concepts in design is a plus but not essential.
