Job Description: We are looking for a highly analytical and detail-oriented Category Data & Performance Analyst to support data-driven decision-making within the Business Development team. This role focuses on building scalable reporting, performing deep-dive performance analysis, and generating actionable insights to support category growth initiatives. The ideal candidate has strong SQL, Excel, and analytical problem-solving skills, and is comfortable working with large datasets to identify business opportunities and performance gaps. This is an individual contributor role with strong exposure to commercial strategy, category management, and cross-functional stakeholders. Key Responsibilities: 1. Data Analysis & Performance Monitoring Analyze category performance metrics including GMV, orders, traffic, conversion, margin, and campaign performance Identify SKU-level, seller-level, and category-level performance trends and opportunities Conduct deep-dive analysis to diagnose performance fluctuations and uncover growth opportunities Support weekly/monthly business performance reviews and reporting 2. Data Infrastructure & Reporting Build and maintain automated dashboards and reporting pipelines using SQL and Excel Develop scalable datasets and queries to support category and commercial analysis Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and usability for stakeholders across teams Improve existing reporting processes through automation and optimization 3. Business Insights & Strategic Support Translate complex datasets into clear business insights and actionable recommendations Support category managers in identifying assortment gaps, seller performance issues, and growth opportunities Analyze campaign performance and promotion ROI to support commercial planning Prepare analytical reports and presentations for internal stakeholders and management reviews 4. Cross-functional Collaboration Work closely with Category Managers, Business Development teams, and BI teams Translate business questions into structured analytical problems and SQL-based solutions Support ad-hoc analytical requests and special projects related to category growth and performance optimization Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Business Analytics, Statistics, Data Science, Economics, Engineering, or related fields 1-3 years of experience in analytics, ecommerce, consulting, or related fields Strong SQL skills and ability to query large datasets Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, advanced formulas, data manipulation) Experience working with large datasets and performing structured analysis Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving mindset Ability to translate data insights into clear business recommendations Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously Ability to work independently and collaborate with cross-functional teams Preferred Qualifications Experience in ecommerce, marketplace platforms, or digital businesses Exposure to BI tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, Looker) Experience analyzing campaign performance, promotions, or seller performance Basic programming knowledge (Python, R, or similar) is a plus This role offers strong exposure to commercial strategy and category management within Shopee.
