Reminder: This is a full-time, 5-month probationary role leading to regular employment in the 6th month based on performance. (This is NOT a part-time or freelance, or independent contractor role) Must be a resident of the Philippines. Solid Xero experience. Only candidates with a strong understanding of the Australian business environment / worked in an Australian Public Practice Firm/Company will be entertained. JOB SUMMARY: We are seeking a highly knowledgeable and experienced Payroll Officer to join our remote team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with Australian payroll standards and processes and a proactive, resourceful, and critical-thinking mindset. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Process Payroll: Accurately and efficiently process end-to-end payroll for Australian employees on a weekly, fortnightly, or monthly basis. Manage Compliance: Ensure full compliance with all Australian payroll regulations, including Superannuation (Super), Long Service Leave (LSL), Payroll Tax (Ptax), Income Activity Statements (IAS), Business Activity Statements (BAS), and Single Touch Payroll (STP). Maintain Records: Accurately maintain all employee payroll records, including new hires, terminations, salary changes, and leave entitlements. Handle Inquiries: Serve as the primary point of contact for employee payroll-related questions and concerns. Generate Reports: Prepare and submit payroll reports for internal management and external regulatory bodies. Process Deductions: Manage payroll deductions, including taxes, superannuation contributions, and salary sacrifice arrangements. Stay Updated: Proactively stay informed about changes in Australian payroll legislation and ensure company processes are updated accordingly. QUALIFICATIONS: Experience: Proven 3 years of experience as a Payroll Officer, with a strong focus on Australian payroll. Expertise: Deep knowledge of Australian payroll standards and processes, including Super, LSL, Ptax, IAS, BAS, and STP. Technical Skills: Proficiency with payroll software (e.g., XERO) and a strong understanding of accounting principles. Personal Attributes: Must be highly resourceful, proactive, and a critical thinker with exceptional attention to detail. Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Problem-Solving: Ability to identify and resolve discrepancies or issues independently.
