If a 1-hour lunch is preferred, the shift extends to 4:30 PM CST. Workdays may change if necessary.Salary: $1,100 per monthJob Overview:We are seeking a skilled Remote Drafter to join the Engineering team, focusing on the design and layout of aluminum dome roofs, internal floating roofs (IFRs), and flat cover systems used in industrial and petrochemical storage tanks. The ideal candidate will have strong CAD experience, structural drafting expertise, and a keen eye for detail to produce high-quality fabrication and installation drawings. This remote position requires close collaboration with engineers, project managers, and fabrication teams to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and compliance with industry standards.Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare detailed 2D and 3D CAD drawings for aluminum geodesic dome roofs, IFRs, and flat covers.
  • Convert engineering specifications and sketches into technical drawings that meet project requirements and industry standards.
  • Generate fabrication drawings, bills of materials (BOMs), shop details, and assembly layouts for manufacturing and field installation.
  • Review engineering models and perform dimensional checks, clash detection, and cross-discipline coordination.
  • Collaborate closely with engineers, project managers, and fabrication teams to ensure drawing accuracy and feasibility.
  • Revise drawings based on engineering reviews, fabrication input, or field modifications.
  • Maintain drawing files and follow document control standards.
  • Assist in developing standard drawing templates, libraries, and drafting best practices to streamline future projects.
Qualifications:
  • Associate degree or certification in Drafting, Engineering Technology, or a related field.
  • 2+ years of drafting experience, preferably in the industrial or structural field.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or equivalent CAD software.
  • Familiarity with tank design, roof structures, or related fabrication processes.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical documents.
  • Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills.
  • Experience drafting aluminum structures, especially domes or floating roofs.
  • Familiarity with API 650 or related industry codes.
  • Experience using 3D modeling software such as Autodesk Inventor or Tekla.
  • Basic understanding of structural loads and materials used in the oil & gas or chemical industries.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
  • Self-motivated, with the ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
  • Strong problem-solving mindset and adaptability to evolving project requirements.
