Energy Business Group is looking for Senior Protection and Controls Design Engineer to join a dynamic and professional team in a respectful and collaborative environment. The ability to influence others and establish networks coupled with excellent communication skills is a necessity. This role will collaborate closely with our Australian and Asia Pacific regions. The following are key attributes of the role: Extensive secondary protection and control experience in engineering and design of electrical networks and substations at 132kV to 500kV including customer connections compliance. Strong knowledge of secondary design for generation substation and industrial facilities. Strong knowledge of AIS/GIS Substation busbar configuration and layouts. Knowledge of relevant Australian and International standards, industry guidelines and current industry practices. Experience and knowledge in the areas of substation primary design or earthing system design would be advantageous. What you will bring to the team: Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering. Minimum 10 years related experience working with Power Utilities, ideally working on Australian utility assets. Extensive experience in Protection and Controls detailed design for substations from 132kV to 500kV Thorough understanding of switchyard layouts and busbar configurations, and selection / application. Experience in designing protection and control including BoM preparation. Experience in protection coordination studies. Experience in designing layout of switchyard conduits and trenches (to inform civil design). Experience in main equipment selection and preparation of technical specifications Understanding of primary and secondary design interfaces e.g. primary, structural, civil, geotechnical, hydrology, etc. Understanding of operational and maintenance requirements. Construction experience would be advantageous. Strong ability in authoring design reports, scope of work and related technical documentation. Proficient at managing the quality of deliverables produced by others. Understanding of large-scale grid connection processes with local utilities. Ability to direct and coordinate works to meet schedule, budget and quality requirements. Have a strong focus on client relationships.
