- Data Collection and Management
- Gather relevant data from various sources (e.g., energy consumption, waste production, transportation, and industrial processes) required for GHG emissions calculations.
- Ensure data integrity and accuracy by implementing data validation and verification procedures.
- Organize and maintain historical and current environmental data sets for accurate tracking and analysis.
- Greenhouse Gas Emissions Calculations
- Perform detailed GHG emissions calculations using established methodologies outlined in ISO 14064 for both company and client requirement to determine the reduction in greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions achieved by a specific action or project.
- Calculate direct and indirect emissions (Scope 1, 2, and 3) based on the organizations activities and energy use.
- Use emissions factors from approved databases (e.g., IPCC, GHG Protocol) to convert activity data into emissions data.
- Reporting and Documentation
- Participate in voluntary reporting initiatives (e.g., CDP, sustainability reports).
- Compile and prepare GHG emissions reports in accordance with ISO 14064 and any relevant regulatory or client requirements such as monthly and/ or annual GHG report, including data analysis and trends.
- Maintain comprehensive records of all data sources, methodologies, calculations, and reports.
- Ensure accurate documentation of calculation methodologies, assumptions, and emission factors used in reporting.
- Collaborate with environmental managers, sustainability teams, and external auditors to ensure reports meet certification or verification standards.
- Retain GHG data and related documentation for at least five years, or as required by regulations.
- System and Tool Management
- Utilize specialized software and tools for GHG emissions calculations and reporting (e.g., carbon accounting software, spreadsheets, or databases).
- Ensure tools and systems used for tracking and reporting are up-to-date and in compliance with industry standards.
- Cross-Department Collaboration
- Work closely with departments such as operations, finance, sustainability, and facilities management to collect accurate data.
- Provide technical guidance and support to stakeholders involved in the GHG accounting and reporting process.
