The Business Analyst is responsible for applying knowledge of business and technology to allow for the development of integrated solutions to resolve simple to medium technical and business issues. Serve as a liaison between internal and external customers and functional IT departments and/or development teams during the entire lifecycle of the project. Apply structured methodology in the creation of requirements from the business perspective, translated in to easily understood formats that are acted upon by the various technical and/or development teams. Following BA principles and accepted methodologies, define the system and functional requirements of technical projects. Define specifications, Use Cases/User Stories, Requirement Traceability, and/or data models for development efforts and testing. Create detailed test cases and analyze results. May assess available technologies and recommend solutions to technical teams.Responsibilities
  • Apply in-depth professional experience and broad knowledge of both business and technology to analyze and develop integrated solutions to resolve simple to medium technical or business issues. Actively participate and interact with customers to understand business needs, identify the best solution, and architect/design the processes to meet the needs.
  • Requirements Elicitation. Using multiple information gathering techniques, conduct facilitated sessions with customers to define detailed business requirements for solution development. Actively participate and interact with customers to understand business needs, identify the best solution to meet the needs. Partner with architects, designers, and other planners to assess current capabilities and identify high-level requirements.
  • Analyzing Requirements. Establish and maintain clear scope boundaries for the solution. Develop clear and concise functional requirements for the technical developers that are free from ambiguity to minimize rework and errors. Articulate to the clients the implications of implementing new technologies in the current business and technology framework. Recognize the business’ needs and the implications of change. Formulate alternative solutions to satisfy business requirements.
  • Specifying Requirements. Develop precise documentation of prioritized functional requirements that can be shared with various stakeholders and in a format that can be directly converted to test plans, use cases, and/or system conceptual designs to meet performance targets and development project plans.
  • Translate/discuss requirements and use cases to the designers and development team, ensuring there is a clear and concise understanding of requirements.
  • Validating and Verifying Requirements. Maintain a traceability matrix that links the business requirements to technical solution, and from solution to test cases and vice-versa, to ensure that all captured business requirements signed-off by the customer is delivered and tested in the solution.
  • Write test cases and/or execute test cases for Systems Integration Testing or User Acceptance Testing that are aligned to the signed-off requirements. Review test conditions and expected results for product, performance, and user acceptance testing.
  • Documentation. Write/develop all required documentation for the project such as but not limited to User Manual, Training Manual, Requirements Document, and Process Flows.
  • Training. Train customer’s Core Project Team, End-User, Operation Support, or other relevant users on the use of the proposed solution.
  • Participate in quality management reviews as outlined in the project work plan, and in reviews of the designs, prototypes and other project work products to ensure fulfillment of the requirements.
  • Gatekeeper of Requirements. Raise flags to Project Manager if : (1) issues reported by the customer are not within the signed-off requirements; (2) a technical implementation of a solution will trigger a change in the signed-off requirements and solution.
  • UAT Support. Review customer’s test cases to ensure that test conditions are align to signed-off business requirements. Provide UAT support to customers.
  • Production Support. Conduct knowledge hand-over to Level 1 to ensure that the latter can be able to provide Level 1 support effectively. As an SME on the functionality of the solution, provides Level 2 or Level 3 support.
  • Continue to build on technical and business knowledge. Seek out innovations in process improvement, better utilization of resources, product enhancements, improved communications, and faster issue resolution.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications we seek in you!
Minimum Qualifications / Skills
  • Requires bachelor degree in Computer Science or related field.
  • Must have at least relevant years of experience in Technical Business Analyst capacity or equivalent position with an emphasis on requirements gathering, documentation and traceability, system/application implementation, or knowledge of software development (e.g. Waterfall, Agile, etc.)
  • With working knowledge on MS Office (Word, Excel, PPT) and Visio.
  • Exposure to banking, financial services, or credit industry is preferred.
  • Requires excellent written and verbal communications skills with a background in technical communications.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to bridge business and technical environments, and ability to build professional relationships.
  • Demonstrated ability to meet critical time sensitive objectives.
  • Must satisfactorily meet all competency skills identified for this role.
Preferred Qualifications/ Skills
  • Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM): Also from PMI, this is ideal for those who are newer to project management1.
  • Agile and Scrum Certifications: These are valuable for managing projects in agile environments2.
