Data Analyst with SQL and Accounting Expertise Position Overview We are seeking a skilled Data Analyst with proficiency in SQL and a strong understanding of accounting principles to join our team. You will play a crucial role in analysing financial and non-financial data, identifying trends, and providing actionable insights to grow company revenues and profits. You will report directly to the CEO. Responsibilities Data Analysis and Interpretation: Use SQL and other data analysis tools to extract, clean, and analyse financial data from various sources. Interpret data to identify trends, patterns, and anomalies that impact financial performance. Financial Reporting and Forecasting: Develop and maintain financial models to forecast future trends and support budgeting and planning activities. Generate accurate and timely financial reports, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements. Performance Evaluation: Report on key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess business performance and identify areas for improvement in our Sales, Marketing and Product Development teams. Provide actionable insights and recommendations based on data analysis findings. Data Integrity and Quality Assurance: Ensure the accuracy and integrity of data by implementing data validation processes and performing regular quality assurance checks. Collaborate with IT and finance teams to resolve data discrepancies and improve data governance practices. Ad Hoc Analysis and Special Projects: Conduct ad hoc analysis as requested by management to address specific business questions or challenges. Participate in special projects related to process improvement, system implementation, or financial strategy development. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with sales and marketing to understand their data needs and provide analytical support as required. Communicate findings and recommendations effectively to stakeholders at all levels of the organisation. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field. At least 2 years experience as a Data Analyst or Financial Analyst, with strong proficiency in SQL for data extraction and manipulation. Understanding of accounting principles, financial concepts, and financial reporting. Intermediate or Advanced MS Excel Skills. Proficiency in data visualization tools (e.g. Tableau or similar) and statistical analysis software (e.g. R, Python) preferred. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate complex data into action. Excellent attention to detail and accuracy, with a commitment to data integrity and quality assurance. Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
