Job Description PURPOSE OF JOB : To perform, under the responsibility and management of the supervising physician, through diagnostic, therapeutic and interventional tasks to allow the physician to extend his/her services through the more effective use of his/her knowledge in the sphere of decision-making required to establish diagnosis and to plan therapy. He/she may assist in gathering the data necessary in implementing the therapeutic plan of the physician. A major role will be as a patient&aposs advocate in the medical care system serving as confidant, advisor and liaison between patients and physicians . ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS : Provide care to cardiac patients and assist cardiologists during outpatient clinic visits, hospital rounding and within the device clinic Diagnose and treat complex medical problems Diagnose and treat urgent / emergent conditions. Order, collect and interpret laboratory and diagnostic studies Prescribe medications or devices All other clinical procedures/duties as approved require Job Qualifications QUALIFICATIONS : Education: For Nurse Practitioner Master of Science in Nursing from an accredited institution required Current Pennsylvania licensure required: Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner (CRNP) Registered Nurse (RN) Prescriptive Authority Board Certified NP or Board eligible NP CPR, ACLS For Physician Assistant Bachelor of Science degree in a physical science from an accredited institution required Current Pennsylvania licensure required: Physician Assistant Prescriptive Authority (determined by supervising physician, has 30 days to obtain as new hire) NCCPA certified CPR, ACLS Experience: Two years recent experience in cardiology preferred Other Skills: General Leadership, critical thinking, organizational and communication skills are required Expertise in developing and maintaining excellent working relationships with all members of the healthcare team and partner organizations Ability to work in a collaborative practice model Ability to prioritize, manage time effectively and be flexible in a very active work environment Strong health assessment/clinical skills Ability to maintain confidentiality and meet HIPAA standards High degree of accuracy and attention to detail Computer Skills Familiarity with electronic documentation within an EMR system Knowledge of working experience with computer systems and applications Schedule: Some weekends required Show more Show less
