Position Summary The Business Development Manager is a highly entrepreneurial role responsible for identifying, developing, and scaling new market opportunities for our interior design materials and related services. Beyond supporting established residential and commercial sectors, this position actively creates new demand by uncovering underpenetrated industries, novel applications, and unconventional channels where our design-driven solutions can thrive. The ideal candidate combines strategic thinking, curiosity, and hands-on execution, operating with an owner's mindset to help shape the company's next phase of growth. Key Responsibilities Entrepreneurial Market Expansion Proactively identify and validate new industries, verticals, and use cases for interior design materials and services beyond traditional markets Develop business cases for entering new segments, including market sizing, customer profiles, pricing strategies, and go-to-market approaches Pilot new markets, partnerships, and sales channels, refining strategies based on real- world results Build early traction in new sectors and transition successful initiatives into repeatable revenue streams Business Development & Revenue Growth Generate and convert opportunities across a diversified portfolio of projects and industries Engage early with designers, architects, developers, owner groups, and non-traditional buyers to influence design direction and specifications Lead negotiations and proposal development with a focus on value creation, not commodity selling Own the full lifecycle of opportunities-from discovery through close and post-project expansion Relationship Building & Ecosystem Development Establish strategic relationships with influencers, decision-makers, and partners across emerging and non-traditional markets Position the company as a thought leader and problem-solver within new design and industry ecosystems Represent the company at cross-industry events, innovation forums, and networking opportunities Insight, Innovation & Collaboration Track macro trends in design, sustainability, workplace evolution, healthcare, education, public environments, and experiential spaces Provide leadership with actionable insights on market gaps, competitive threats, and growth opportunities Collaborate with product development, marketing, and operations teams to adapt offerings for new applications and industries Qualifications Required 5+ years of business development or strategic sales experience in interior design materials, architectural products, or adjacent industries Proven track record of launching or expanding into new markets or verticals Strong understanding of the design and specification process, with the ability to translate creative solutions into business value Comfortable operating with ambiguity and building structure where none exists Exceptional communication, influence, and negotiation skills Preferred Experience working across multiple sectors such as hospitality, healthcare, education, workplace, retail, civic, or cultural environments Entrepreneurial background, startup experience, or experience building a territory or business line from the ground up Bachelor's degree in Business, Interior Design, Architecture, or a related field Key Competencies Entrepreneurial and growth-oriented mindset Strategic curiosity and opportunity sensing Consultative, solution-based selling Resilience and adaptability Strong prioritization and execution skills Performance Metrics Revenue generated from new or non-traditional market segments Successful launch and scaling of new verticals or channels Pipeline quality and diversification Long-term strategic partnerships formed Powered by JazzHR W2EYIdzwPm
