Aligned Outsource, Inc. is seeking a qualified Staff Accountant for its client. About the Company: The Company is a fast-scaling, M&A-focused logistics provider (freight broker) based in North America, specializing in 3PL and 4PL services. We are actively expanding through mergers and acquisitions and are preparing for a major systems upgrade to 3G TMS, which will integrate operations and accounting for our core brands. Position Overview: We are seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our small, collaborative Finance team. Reporting directly to the Controller, this role is critical to helping us manage a complex accounting environment during our transition phase, including oversight of QuickBooks records spanning several legal entities and service lines. The ideal candidate will be adept at using cloud based accounting software with AI technology, and have a solid understanding of ERP system integrations, particularly in an environment of mergers and acquisitions. The successful candidate must be comfortable handling day-to-day operations, full charge accounting, as well as possess the ability to assist with special financial projects. Key Responsibilities: Maintain accurate and timely financial records for multiple QuickBooks entities during the system transition. Assist with migration of financial records and operational data to the new 3G TMS system. Review and process supply chain invoices, ensuring accuracy in freight billing details, accessorial charges, and other logistics-specific fees. Manage bill payment processing across all entities in a timely and accurate manner. Reconcile accounts payable and accounts receivable across all entities. Perform month-end close activities, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial reporting. Assist with financial consolidation and intercompany transactions. Ensure compliance with GAAP accounting standards. Identify discrepancies, research variances, and resolve accounting issues promptly. Ensure that accounting best practices, systems, and internal controls are followed. Provide support during audits and due diligence processes related to mergers and acquisitions. Support the Controller with ad hoc financial projects and process improvements in the areas of operational efficiency, accounting and reporting, to support the company's goal to become a paperless, AI-driven organization. Collaborate closely with the Controller, Finance team, and Operations team to maintain financial accuracy and support business objectives. Key Performance Objectives: First 6 Weeks: Become proficient in the financial systems, develop a solid understanding of the underlying accounting processes, procedures and internal controls, support the month end close, identify areas for improvement, and work with the Controller to map out a plan for approval First 3 Months: Take ownership of specific accounts or areas of the financials, and become a subject matter expert in those areas First 5 Months: Engage with the Controller and accounting team members at a higher level, to support the company's growth objectives and to ensure that daily financial operations are running smoothly Qualifications and Attributes: Requirements CPA Required Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. 4+ years of professional accounting experience, preferably in the logistics, freight, or supply chain industry. Strong understanding of GAAP and accounting best practices. Strong technology and computer skills, possessing the ability to improve efficiency through automation, with recent experience playing a key role in implementing AI-driven platforms Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, ERP systems and cloud-based accounting software Advanced QuickBooks experience required; experience managing multi-entity records is a strong plus. Working knowledge of logistics and transportation terms (e.g., BOLs, POs, accessorials, freight classes, demurrage fees, detention, layovers, etc.). Familiarity with TMS (Transportation Management Systems) preferred; experience assisting in system transitions or upgrades a plus. Highly detail-oriented with strong organizational, problem-solving, and project management skills. Ability to work independently and handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced, high-growth environment. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Experience supporting M&A activity is a plus, but not required.
