We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Data Protection Officer (DPO) to join our team. As the DPO, you will be responsible for overseeing and ensuring compliance with data protection regulations and policies within our organization. This role requires a deep understanding of data privacy laws and best practices, as well as the ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with various stakeholders across the organization.The Data Protection Officer or Privacy Liaison will coordinate all activities related to the implementation of and adherence to the relevant FMC Policies & Procedures and applicable (local) data protection laws, by the FMC Global Privacy Principles. Depending on the data type, external environment, and risk profile, the workload of this position will vary.Main ResponsibilitiesServe as the primary point of contact for all data protection matters within Manila GBS.Develop, implement, and maintain data protection policies, procedures, and controls to ensure compliance with relevant regulations, including GDPR, and other applicable laws.Conduct regular assessments and audits to identify and mitigate risks related to data privacy and security.Provide guidance and support to internal teams on data protection requirements and best practices.Monitor and respond to data protection inquiries, complaints, and breaches in a timely and effective manner.Collaborate with legal, IT, HR, and other departments to address data protection issues and ensure alignment with organizational goals.Stay informed about changes in data protection laws and regulations and advise senior management on potential impact and necessary actions.Serve as a liaison between the organization and data protection authorities, as needed.Oversees the local and/or functional management of the privacy and data protection program, guiding country senior management on their responsibilities and obligations while fostering a culture of compliance with privacy regulations.Provides counsel to FMC staff within Manila GBS, to mitigate risks, improve data management, and enhance outcomes, ensuring alignment with requirements set by governments and insurance companies.Key ActivitiesBuild an understanding of privacy risks and opportunities related to personal data processing activities and provide advice on how to mitigate these risks and enhance the opportunities, by embedding privacy into the design of business activitiesPlans and deploys a local Privacy and data protection program.Provides or coordinates the rollout of Privacy and data protection training under the agreed training plan in the company to local employees on a regular and ad-hoc basis and ensures tracking of participation.Assists the business with records of processing activities and data protection impact assessment.Assists with internal and external audits and inspections, access requests, and correction of personal data or complaints.Manages the local incident response process.Coordinates execution of resulting remediation action plans.Builds and maintains knowledge about local applicable laws and regulations and assesses the impact of changes in laws to Privacy and data protection programs.Actively engages with the Global Privacy Team and participates in its information sessions, to ensure maximal alignment with global standards and practices.Required Skill SetBachelor's degree in law, information technology, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.In-depth knowledge of data protection laws and regulations, including GDPR, CCPA, and other relevant legislation.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess complex data privacy issues and develop practical solutions.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.High degree of integrity, confidentiality, trust, and accountabilityAbility to maintain the highest standards of quality, compliance, and accountability when advising the businessAbility to translate a wide variety of principles and, sometimes complex, legal
