
Inpatient Coding Trainer

- Develop and update training modules and curriculum for coding and billing topics including ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, CPT, E/M coding, Edit Resolution, and RCM.
- Maintain and enhance learning materials for the Med-Metrix Learning Academy, ensuring alignment with current industry standards and regulatory guidelines.
- Design and produce coding exercises, assessments, and qualifying exams specific to inpatient coding.
- Deliver structured onboarding programs for new coders and refresher trainings for tenured staff.
- Provide continuing education and ensure coders maintain required certifications through CEUs.
- Monitor and consolidate assessment and quiz results; analyze data and report performance metrics to leadership on a weekly basis.
- Disseminate periodic updates on coding guidelines, payer rules, and internal policy changes.
- Collaborate across departments to address training-related gaps impacting internal and external stakeholders.
- Participate in and help facilitate monthly calibration sessions; create learning assessments and analyze post-session performance results.
- Support the QA team in training needs assessments (TNA), root cause analysis (RCA), and educational note creation.
- Assist in account launches by coordinating training efforts with QA leadership.
- Graduate of any Medical or Allied Medical course or equivalent work experience in medical coding and training.
- At least 2 years of Medical Coding experience, and 1 year Trainer experience
- Certified Professional Coder (CPC - AAPC) or Certified Coding Specialist (CCS - AHIMA) required.
- Knowledge of ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, CPT, HCPCS, and Revenue Cycle Management.
- Proficient in developing training materials, conducting assessments, and analyzing coder performance data.
- Demonstrated ability to adapt to shifting schedules, new procedures, and evolving training requirements.
- Excellent verbal and written communication, interpersonal, and analytical skills.
- Self-motivated, assertive, and capable of working independently or collaboratively.
- Strong organizational and time management abilities; calm and composed under pressure.
- Willingness to work extended hours if needed.
- Solid understanding of and strict adherence to HIPAA regulations and internal compliance policies.
