- Ensure all activities undertaken on the project or site, comply with applicable Health Safety and Environment related legislation, GBMS, contractual and principal contractor requirements
- Conduct HSE Performance Measure Reviews (Workplace Inspections, Observations and Internal Audits) and prepare reports outlining potential risks and areas of improvement,
- Ensure all Contractors working for /or on Hitachi sites have completed the necessary HSE Contractor Approval Documents before commencement of work
- Ensure all High Risk Activities are conducted in accordance with applicable legislative and company requirements,
- Assist Managers, Supervisors and Employees to conduct and document HSE hazard/ aspect identification, risk/ impact assessment and risk control measures for all work activities,
- Travel to permanent and project sites as a HSE professional to conduct activities including but not limited to inductions, inspection and monitoring, audits, investigations, training and/ or awareness sessions etc.
- Conduct and evaluate audits of contractors the HSEMS and its implementation for compliance and continuous improvement to ensure it remain effective and current.
- Support the collection of HSE Management System performance data and reporting and provide the Project Senior HSE Manager and HSE Analyst with reports as defined within area of responsibility.
- Advise, influence and guide workers about Health, Safety, Wellness and Injury Management responsibility to undertake their roles more effectively.
- Implement or assist with the implementation of control measures to address HSE risk and ensure monitoring and review of control measures for effectiveness is undertaken,
- Facilitate the communication and consultation of necessary HSE information/ lessons learned, across all sites in the region.
- Ability to build HSE capability and safety leadership of managers, employees, and contractors.
- Ability to Influence and drive safe behavior's and performance through building effective relationships and engagement.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- 3+ years’ experience as a HSE Advisor in a high risk industry
- Experience in the rail industry is highly regarded
- Experience in a client facing role highly regarded
- A sound knowledge of the relevant legislation is essential
- Experience in reporting with good attention to detail.
- Diploma of Occupational Health and Safety or Equivalent.
- At least OHSC DOLE Accredited Safety Practitioner.
