We are representing a private equity backed international hyperscale data centre operator in deploying gigawatts of capacity across Southeast Asia and need an operator who can run live sites at 99.999%+ while building the next ones. As Site Operations Director, you own the heartbeat of our Philippines campus(es)-uptime, safety, cost, and customer trust. You lead from the floor, not the spreadsheet. If you've commissioned hyperscale halls, led incident bridges at 3am, and still obsess over PUE decimals, keep reading. You will own end-to-end operational performance, reliability, and safety for one or more hyperscale data centre sites in the Philippines. You will lead multi-disciplinary teams across facilities, engineering, and service delivery, embed world-class governance, and partner with commercial, construction, engineering, and hyperscale client teams to deliver secure, resilient, and cost-efficient capacity at speed. If you are successful, you will enjoy the following:
- Scale: Greenfield and brownfield hyperscale campuses with roadmap across SEA-Philippines, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam.
- Mandate: Real ownership of uptime and opex. You set the standard.
- Growth: Clear path to Regional Director/VP Ops as portfolio expands.
- Comp: Competitive base + performance bonus + equity/long-term incentives tied to uptime and cost efficiency.
- Impact: Build the digital infrastructure powering SEA's cloud and AI growth.Key Responsibilities:
Site Leadership & 24x7 Ops
- Run live operations to exceed uptime and client SLAs. Own daily operational readiness, shift performance, and incident command. Be the accountable leader when the alarms go off.Critical Infrastructure
- Full lifecycle responsibility for MEP systems: MV/LV power distribution, UPS, generators, fuel systems, chillers, CRAH/CRAC, liquid cooling, BMS/EPMS, fire suppression, and plumbing. No black boxes.Performance & Efficiency
- Define and hit KPIs: availability, PUE/WUE/CUE, MTTR/MTBF, incident response & resolution times, change success rate, and cost per kW. Drive root-cause culture and close the loop with engineering.Capacity & Growth
- Partner with design, construction and commercial on capacity planning-power, cooling, white space, network. Own operational input to design reviews, commissioning, IST, and phased handovers. Lead expansions, densification, and eventual decomm with zero customer impact.Governance, Risk & Compliance
- Ensure adherence to Uptime Institute standards, ISO 27001/22301/50001, SOC2, local AHJ/building/health & safety codes. Lead audits, risk registers, BCP/DR testing, and blameless post-incident reviews.Team & Vendor Management
- Build, coach, and scale a high-performance org: shift leads, CE/ME engineers, facilities techs, and EHS. Own workforce planning, rosters, competency frameworks, and succession. Manage OEMs, FM partners, and specialist vendors-set SLAs, QBRs, and hold the line on performance.Process, Tools & Automation
- Institutionalize SOPs, MOPs, EOPs, and change management. Drive DCIM, BMS, EPMS, CMMS adoption and data quality. Automate monitoring, alarming, and runbooks to reduce human error and MTTR.Client & Commercial Interface
- Be the operational face to hyperscale tenants. Lead operational reviews, manage service delivery against MSAs, and support onboarding. Partner on opex/capex planning, energy procurement, and vendor negotiations with clear commercial acumen. What Success Looks Like in 12 Months
- Site operates at or above SLA with zero Severity-1 incidents attributable to ops.
PUE improved vs. design through airflow, setpoint, and controls optimization.
Commissioning of next phase delivered with zero punch-list impact to live halls.
Team engagement up, attrition down. Vendor SLA compliance >98%.
Audit findings closed on time. BCP/DR tested with client witnesses.Key Requirements
- Command & composure: Calm under pressure. Makes fast, data-driven decisions during incidents and communicates clearly to execs and clients.
Builder mentality: Thrives in “day 1” environments. Sets high bars, writes the playbook, and scales it.
- Technical depth: Can debate single-line diagrams, psychrometric charts, and generator loading with your engineers and still explain it to the CFO.
- Commercial edge: Owns budgets, understands total cost of ownership, and negotiates hard with vendors without breaking relationships.
- People leader: Hires A-players, develops talent, and builds a safety-first, no-blame learning culture.
- Client-facing polish: Executive presence with hyperscalers. Crisp reporting, narrative-driven QBRs, and trust-building transparency.
- Education: Bachelor's in Electrical, Mechanical, or related Engineering discipline. Master's preferred.
- Experience: 10+ years in data centre or mission-critical facilities operations, with 5+ years as Director/Head of Site or equivalent leading multi-MW sites.
- Hyperscale exposure: Must have operated at scale-20MW+ live IT load, multi-hall campuses, and concurrent maintenance environments.
- Technical mastery: Deep hands-on knowledge of MV/LV switchgear, UPS topologies, generator farms, chiller plants, BMS/EPMS, and fire/life safety. Liquid cooling experience a strong plus.
- Systems: Proven with DCIM, BMS, CMMS, and power monitoring platforms. Comfortable driving tooling and analytics adoption.
- Track record: Owned 24x7 ops, managed large multi-shift teams, led major incident response/recovery, and delivered capacity expansions on live sites.
- Certifications (preferred): Uptime Institute Accredited Tier Designer/Specialist, CDCMP/CDCP, ISO 27001 Lead Implementer/Auditor, PMP/PRINCE2. Licensed PE/EE/ME where applicable. If you are excited to find out more, apply now!
