- Perform duties as the Pollution Control Officer and be the liaison officer with DENR, LLDA and other relevant regulating agencies by ensuring compliance to and keeping updated with environmental laws/rules/regulations, assess impact, and reporting to and from these agencies in order to comply with the duties stated in DENR Administrative Order 2014-02.
- Monitor and analyze conditions/parameters required in the ECC and other environmental permits and applicable laws. Conduct Ambient Hydrogen Sulfide (H2S), Ambient Noise Monitoring, Water Quality Monitoring in order to compare results to standards in order to comply with regulatory requirements, establish the trend/effects of change in operations and recommend mitigating measures whenever exceedances occur.
- Works and coordinates with the Multipartite Monitoring Team (MMT) to ensure compliance to Air, Water, Soil and other regulations. Ensure that issues and concerns are communicated and addressed by concerned parties.
- Implement programs by identifying environmental requirements, conceptualization and preparation of environmental sustainability initiatives/ innovation, implementation and monitoring/ assessing its effectiveness and compliances in order to address the requirement of regulating agencies, internal and external customers.
- Ensure operation of Continuous Ambient Monitoring System (CAMS/DAS) by preventive maintenance and monitoring of error status in order to comply with environmental laws and requirements.
- Conduct monthly review/download of CAMS data and ensure timely submission of reports to regulatory agencies.
- Communicate to employees, contractors and community the environmental programs by conducting training, orientations, drills, preparation of IEC materials and post-activity documentation in order to increase awareness and solicit participation/compliance.
- Respond to environmental incidents/concerns/complaints in relation to plant operation and generated wastes.
- Conduct incident notification, investigation and reporting to regulatory agencies.
- Recommend preventive and corrective measures whenever environmental incidents, potential environmental threats and complaints may arise.
- Ensure implementation and closure of action items within the given timeline
- Establish, implement and maintain procedures and work instructions by documenting, reviewing and updating to ensure achieving environmental objectives and targets.
- Promote sustainability by reducing environmental footprint and reduction of resources/aspects. Implementation of reforestation and biodiversity enhancement programs, reduction of waste generated, keeping a Green House Gas Inventory and participating in environmental events and other government-initiated projects in order to improve the environment and come up
- Ensure proper implementation of Solid Wastes, Hazardous Waste Management program through proper operation and maintenance of Hazardous Waste Storage Facility, used oil building in compliance to RA 6969. Monitor the use of chemicals especially those listed under the Priority Chemical List and those with Chemical Control Order and the generation of solid and hazardous wastes. Ensure proper inventory and management of PCB, ACM wastes. Implement APRI and other BU best practices.
- Attend to all relevant permitting and registration requirements of the establishment prior to the construction, installation and operation of pollution sources and control facilities.
- Conduct HAIRADC review and ensure significant aspects/impact are assessed, identify risk or threats in operations and recommend measures based on the hierarchy of controls. Ensure to review and implement actions based on timeline.
- Conduct PTW audit and assess environmental aspects/impacts are identified in the task risk assessment.
- Recommend measures to reduce impact or risks.
- Recommend Environmental policies and procedures by reviewing the existing policies and procedures in order to align with the APGen Policy, corporate goals and environmental rules and regulations.
- Prepare work plans and budget of the Environmental Unit by reviewing performance and needed resources. Prepare Monthly & Annual Reports and prepare Purchase Requests and other supporting documents to ensure efficient use of resources/savings and on-time delivery of results.
- Prepares and submits Regulatory Reports, Sustainability/GHG/ESG Reports to AP Corp. and relevant stakeholders.
- Capture and share best practices of other industries by benchmarking, auditing, and exchanging ideas in order to continuously improve environmental performance.
- Perform other related duties and responsibilities that may be assigned by his/her immediate superior.
- At least two (2) years of professional experience in Safety, Health, Environment, or a related field.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or any related discipline.
- Must be a licensed Engineer or hold a valid license in a related field.
- Strong understanding of environmental standards, compliance requirements, and regulatory frameworks.
- Ability to support SHE programs with focus on environmental management and compliance monitoring.
