Job Summary: Provide assistance to the Database Administration Unit with regards to Oracle database administration. You will be assigned tasks by the Supervisor and would report progress on a weekly basis during a team meeting. It is expected that you would perform you duties in self-autonomy and would be required to interact and communicate with other ITID staff such as team leads, QA and developers. Key responsibilities include: Oracle database administration tasks such as cloning, backup and recovery, full DB restore and recovery, PITR, implementing backup policies/strategies, Data Guard configuration and administration, performance tuning, storage management, and user/permission management. Monitoring and troubleshooting Oracle databases in all environments. Patching Oracle DBs for bugs or security patches. Managing and maintaining various software and monitoring tools used by the Database Administration Unit. Addressing end-users requests and issues by coordinating with relevant sections or units within the organization. Liaising with Oracle Support for internal Service Requests related to Oracle database or Oracle E-Business technology stack. Automating routine DBA Tasks using ansible or shell scripting. Skills and Expertise A. Mandatory: Oracle Database management. Previous experience in implementing Oracle RMAN backup procedures. Previous experience in implementing/managing Oracle Data Guard. Proficiency in SQL*Plus and PL/SQL programming. Familiarity with SQL Developer. Experience in managing Oracle databases using Oracle Enterprise Manager. B. Optional: Knowledge of the Oracle E-Business Suite from an architectural and technical standpoint. Proficiency in cloning Oracle E-Business Suite. Experience in applying patches on both databases and applications. Ability to troubleshoot common Oracle application issues. Familiarity with filing Service Request tickets in MOS (My Oracle Support). Previous experience in managing Oracle MySQL databases. Previous experience in managing PostgreSQL databases. Experience with Unix or Linux OS. Experience in dealing with network infrastructure. Competencies: The candidate is expected to have the following qualifications: Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering or equivalent. Minimum of 5 years of experience in Oracle DB Administration. Previous experience in PostgreSQL DB Administration. Client-oriented approach with the ability to mediate and resolve conflicts, and address client inquiries, requests, and complaints. Strong work ethics and ability to collaborate with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds. Ability to maintain confidentiality of information and records.
