This is a deep, end-to-end role within the Microsoft 365 ecosystem, with a strong focus on Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD) and identity-driven security.The role will initially support a large client in a near full-time/project capacity, heavily focused on Identity and Access Management (IAM), while also driving improvements in the security, efficiency, and overall use of Microsoft 365 platforms.Duties and Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and manage IAM solutions within Microsoft 365 and Microsoft Entra ID
- Configure and maintain authentication methods (MFA, passwordless, Conditional Access, identity protection)
- Manage user, group, and application access across M365 (Exchange Online, SharePoint, Teams, OneDrive)
- Implement identity governance (access reviews, entitlement management, lifecycle workflows)
- Integrate applications using SSO protocols (SAML, OAuth, OpenID Connect)
- Support hybrid identity environments (Azure AD Connect / Cloud Sync)
- Provide subject matter expertise across Microsoft 365 platforms
- Monitor and respond to identity-related security events and incidents
- Ensure compliance with Zero Trust and least privilege principles
- Deliver Tier 3 support for complex identity and access issues
- Develop and maintain technical documentation and standards
- Collaborate with security, infrastructure, and application teams to align identity strategy
- Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft 365 and Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD)
- Strong experience with Active Directory and Windows Server environments
- Proven experience with Conditional Access, MFA, and identity security controls
- Experience supporting and optimizing M365 applications (Teams, Exchange Online, SharePoint, OneDrive)
- Solid understanding of SSO, federation, and authentication protocols (SAML, OAuth 2.0, OIDC)
- Experience with identity governance and lifecycle management
- Exposure to hybrid identity environments
- Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills
- Excellent communication skills (technical and non-technical audiences)
- High level of ownership, attention to detail, and security mindset
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
