- Reviewing appropriate specifications and design briefs to produce and develop instrument and control design drawings and documents relating to a wide range of industrial equipment for industries such as oil and gas.
- Consult with and take direction from assigned engineering personnel as may be required
- Once specifications have been developed by the engineers, plan and develop detailed design documents and drawings
- Adopt safe attitudes towards engineering design and identify features affecting the safety and integrity of the design
- To co-ordinate / supervise other designers to suit project requirements
- To attend project meetings as required / instructed
- To ensure that estimated design man hours are professionally managed in order to achieve project / company expectations
- Undertake review and signature check of appropriate design documents generated by other designers
- To partake in duties associated with document management and archiving in accordance with company / client requirements
- To undertake detailed surveys to identify appropriate design solutions
- Maintain and develop understanding of relevant technology, codes and standards
- Adhere to company policies and procedures
- Be part of the company safety and quality culture.
- Demonstrate an in-depth working knowledge of instrumentation and control engineering.
- Understanding and experience of relevant codes and standards including BS 7671, IEC 61511, ATEX, DSEAR, CDM 2015, etc.
- Knowledge and understanding of control systems, such as DCS, PLC's, SCADA, etc.
- Experience within the oil and gas, petrochemical or power generation sectors.
- Have experience of working with E3D, SP3D, SPI, Electronic Document Management Systems (EDMS).
- Demonstrate a sound understanding of industry best practices and work to established standards and current legislation.
- Experience of equipment specification and calculations, such as, Intrinsically Safe calculations, thermowell sizing, etc.
- Offshore design experience is strongly preferred
