About The Job Production Manager About the role The Production Manager ensures that a culture of accountability is established and maintained.. To plan, organize and empower the production team to deliver their works safely, efficiently, on time, within budget and to the Austal standard. Key objectives & responsibilities include but are not limited to: Establish a self-sustaining shipyard Develop a professional and competent team of shipbuilders in line with the shipyard development and project requirements. Ensures an ongoing commitment to Leadership Development. Promotes a culture of innovation and continuous improvement throughout the Production department. Ensure that production risks are being tracked and mitigated as effectively as possible. Ensures that resources required for projects are made available. Ensures appropriate planning and monitoring of production activities is carried out to support schedule compliance. Build projects according to the agreed specification, Class and Austal Standards. Comply with all company safety policies, standards and procedures. Ensure integration of HSE into the department processes to maintain a high standard of compliance and support the achievement of HSE objectives and targets. Manage external contractors as required and liaise with the Procurement Manager to ensure all material requirements are met in an efficient manner (time, cost, quality). Establish and monitor labour and material budgets, periodic reporting on cost performance and variances. Identifying and implementing cost reduction initiatives. To conduct work as per Austal Group standards and procedures. Implement and support continuous improvement initiatives as well as identify and implement waste elimination initiatives. Actively support all Austal policies and values. Establish and maintain a culture of accountability and responsibility as well as promote strong working relationships between Balamban personnel and other Austal work places. Essential Required Skills / Experience / Attributes: Degree in Engineering, Project Management or Shipbuilding Minimum of five (5) years experience in Production Management or similar role Proven knowledge in vessel production and manufacturing processes Six Sigma, Lean Management or similar Proficient in Microsoft Office Application (Word, Excel, Powerpoint) Desirable Aluminium Shipbuilding experience Operations experience in Marine/Ship Repair Managed a Production team of at least 500 pax Why Austal Austal has a proven reputation as a leading designer and manufacturer of world-class vessels.
