Your primary responsibility will be to design, implement, monitor, and maintain backup and recovery solutions, ensuring that data is protected against loss or damage. You will collaborate with IT teams, stakeholders, and vendors to develop and execute backup strategies and disaster recovery plans. Job Responsibilities: Backup Strategy and Implementation: Design, implement, and manage backup and recovery solutions to safeguard the organization's data and systems. Develop and document backup policies, procedures, and schedules based on business and compliance requirements. Configure backup software, hardware, and network components to ensure efficient data protection and recovery. Monitoring and Maintenance: Monitor backup operations, ensuring successful completion of backups and identifying and resolving issues promptly. Perform regular tests and recovery simulations to validate backup and disaster recovery processes. Troubleshoot backup failures, optimize performance, and apply patches or updates as needed. Disaster Recovery Planning: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and maintain comprehensive disaster recovery plans and procedures. Participate in the creation of business continuity strategies to minimize downtime and data loss during unexpected events. Data Restoration and Recovery: Respond to data loss incidents and initiate recovery processes according to established procedures. Restore data from backups as needed, ensuring minimal disruption to business operations. Conduct post-recovery analysis and recommend improvements to enhance recovery efficiency. Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate documentation of backup configurations, procedures, and recovery activities. Generate and present regular reports on backup and recovery status, trends, and performance metrics to management. Security and Compliance: Ensure backups are secured and encrypted to protect sensitive data. Ensure compliance with data protection regulations, industry standards, and internal policies. Vendor and Stakeholder Management: Liaise with backup solution vendors, technical support, and service providers to resolve issues and implement enhancements. Communicate with stakeholders to gather backup requirements, provide updates, and address concerns. Job Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent experience). Proven experience as a Backup Administrator or in a similar role. Strong knowledge of backup and recovery technologies, methodologies, and best practices. Proficiency in backup technology, such as Datto, Veritas, and Microsoft Azure Backup Familiarity with other backup technology, such as Backup Radar, SkyKick, SaaS Protection, or similar tools. Familiarity with disaster recovery planning and execution. Solid understanding of storage technologies, networking, and server infrastructure. Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills. Strong communication and collaboration abilities. Relevant certification (e.g., Datto Certification, Microsoft Certification, or similar Backup Certification) is a plus.
