- Collaborate with service provider and software vendors software/OS releases on network & security infrastructure.
- Schedule, prioritize and plan network & security infrastructure changes & updates, managing interdependencies and vendor constraints
- Review vendor notifications on releases, coordinate and perform impact assessment and provide updates to the engineers for their approval
- Provide recommendations to Lead Engineer for optional enhancements provided by the upgrades/updates
- Ensure appropriate communication to impacted business users and coordinate and perform testing and change management activities
- Record and manage deviations, risks and issues associated with the change management process and manage the associated continuous improvement process to ensure improvement actions are successfully completed
- Ensure Orica's network assets are lifecycle managed including communication of lifecycle milestone notifications and upgrade recommendations.
- Ensure issues or status updates are accurately communicated to business users and IT management & generate reports as needed for data analysis and baselining purposes
- Maintain an in-depth knowledge of the functionality and business processes for Orica's infrastructure
- Support project teams to effectively transition support and maintenance of solutions post implementation to operational support teams.
- Ensure alignment to IT standards, cyber security, and business requirements, and attend design meetings with appropriate stakeholders
- Manage outsource, contract and software vendors to ensure they deliver effective network performance including review of SLA, performance and reporting
- Assist projects in ensuring project vendors delivers effective network performance as SME for area of responsibility
- Ensure licensing requirements are met for area of responsibility
- Provide input to the asset specialist to ensure an accurate asset inventory
- Provide input to procurement and report on licensing numbers
- Drive consolidation and simplification of the Orica network infrastructure
- Engagement with key business stakeholders, Chief Cyber Security Office, Architecture and Strategy, and IT business engagement to design, deliver and support solutions
- Engagement with Infrastructure leads, engineers and operational staff to ensure alignment across functional areas
- Liaise with IT PMO Lead and IT Project Managers and teams to provide advice in the development of solutions and plans
- Collaborate with the Infrastructure teams to identify any interdependencies and/or application development needs to support infrastructure delivery
- Maintain flexibility on working time to appropriately support the demands and issues of the day
- Escalate potential issues and risks to line manager to ensure the timely and efficient resolution
- Follow the IT and business process governance framework and IT change management and service delivery processes
- Ensure infrastructure delivery activities for areas of responsibility align to the IT design principles, IT strategy & architecture and business objectives
- Tertiary qualification in an IT-related discipline
- 3 + years in an IT infrastructure role
- 2 + years' experience in area of responsibility
- Demonstrated success designing and deploying necessary components that make up network and security infrastructure
- Subject matter expertise in core security technologies and processes.
- Experience in IT Infrastructure & application security, working in a large and complex environment.
- Demonstrated problem solving and remediation skills
- Strong cross-team communication and relationship building skills
- Experience providing support and maintenance across a global platform that includes a multi-sourced workforce as well as third party and managed services
- Ability to communicate verbally and in writing to both technical and non-technical audiences
- Initiative to anticipate situations and problems and ability to advise on appropriate workarounds and solutions
- At least one network industry certification such as CCNP (ent/sec) or JNCIS-ENT/SEC etc
- 2+ yrs experience designing a distributed global network is preferred
- Must be familiar with networking technologies such as switching, routing, firewalls, Client based VPNs, VOIP as well as OSS tools related to network operations.
- Working knowledge of ITIL and understanding of ISO OSI and ISO TMN are preferred
