Overview Registered Nurse, Critical Care Unit $5,000 Sign-on Bonus for experienced RNs Full Time, 72 Hours Per Pay Period, Night Shift (12hrs shifts; 3 shifts per week; 6:30a-7:00p, some major and minor holidays; 3 week ends per 6 week schedule) Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center At Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center, we understand that patients in our critical care area need specialized care - not only because they are very sick, but because their medical needs are unique. In our critical care department, we have opened separate intensive care units - each designed to provide experienced nursing and support staff for each patient's needs. (MSICU) is located on the fifth floor in the Center for Advance Medicine (CAM) building adjacent to the Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center main hospital. We are a 25-bed department comprised of a wide variety of complex medically unstable patients between Med-Surg ICU and Med-Surg Stepdown within the locked unit for the safety and privacy of our critically ill patients. We specialize and treat a wide range of severe respiratory illness (BiPAP, High-Flow, ventilator), GI Bleed (Blakemore), post-operative, general medical ICU, proning/Roto prone and renal CRRT cases etc. We strive for 2:1 ICU and 3:1 Stepdown ratios with a free shift leader most shifts. As an RN in the Medical ICU unit, you will perform a variety of tasks such as Continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT), roto prone therapy for ARDS, management of shock and care for the complex medical surgical patient. We follow a 12- hour shift, weekends/holidays on a six-week schedule. Team members utilize a self-scheduling software. Position Summary Provides professional nursing care within an assigned unit; coordinates care planning with other disciplines. Assesses needs of patient and family. Develops and initiates plan of care, involving patient and family. Recommends interventions. Evaluates plan of care. Clinical expertise and knowledge is such that individual can resolve complex patient/management/physician problems without supervision. Demonstrates competence in performing critical skills to include appropriate delivery of care according to the age-specific needs of the population served. Leads process improvement initiatives in their own unit or participate in facility team. Precepts new employees/students or attends formal preceptor workshop and is willing to precept. Reviews clinical performance of preceptee with unit leader or clinical instructor. Provides four contact hours of educational activities, excluding basic patient education. Contributes to development and evaluation of unit orientation program. Supervises LPNs, Nursing Assistants, HUCs, Techs, and sitters. Follows policies, procedures, and safety standards. Completes required education assignments annually. Works toward achieving goals and objectives, and participates in quality improvement initiatives as requested. Performs other duties as assigned.
